Understanding Salt Meter

What is a Salt Meter?

A salt meter is an instrument that is used to measure the amount of salt present in a substance.

ATAGO uses both the electrical conductivity method and the refractometer method for our salt meters

  • The electrical conductivity method uses salt (NaCl) to conduct more electricity than other substances to ascertain the salt concentration by measuring the electrical conductivity.
  • The refractometer method uses the fact that refractive index increases as salt concentration in an aqueous solution increases.

PAL-BX/SALT is one of our portable handheld hybrid Brix and salt meter, allowing users to measure both Brix and salinity at the same time.

ES-421 is our portable/ benchtop salt meter, which gives you a higher accuracy.
